The Salvation Army, founded in 1865 in England, is a non-governmental Christian organisation which has always put meeting social needs high on its agenda.
Since 1922, the Salvation Army has worked in Brazil, giving priority to serving needy children and now reaching a total of 3000 children daily. The work in the borough of Torre started in 1986 and today we serve approximately 350 children and young adults. Teaching the infants, backing up school work for those at school, offering business courses and giving breakfast and lunch to supplement their normal diet.
